Summer Break

Before lockdown impacted our lives, ORCA used to take a summer break at the start of school holidays. This actually helps swimmers recover from repeated swimming, and also gives our coaching staff a well earned break.

We will be bringing this back for 2022 and aligning it to ATS summer break.

We will be having our last training session on Thursday 28th July and restarting on Saturday 13th August.

There are no more competition for a while and starting back on the 13th August will give the swimmers time to get back to speed.

After the summer break we have these galas in our diary so plenty to keep us occupied (there may me a couple more to add)

Junior League away at Ashton 8th September

Team Sprint gala 11th September

BCM wigan Gala 1st and 2nd October

BCM Junior League

For some of you – you may remember Central Lancs league club competitions that were interrupted in 2020 just as we started the galas.

A lot has changed, and Central Lancs SWPA no longer exists, but a new affiliation has been set up BCM SWPA and some of the old competitions survive – with some new competition formats.

For 2022 – ORCA have entered three competitions – details are starting to develop for one of these – BCM Junior League (Based on the previous Central Lancs Junior Jubilee)

Details are on the following web page. We have some interesting competitions coming up – this one is a set of 1:1 competitions with another club and we will be hosting three Home Galas – Chadderton, Oldham Seals, Radcliffe and going to three Away Galas – Ashton, Bury and Ramsbottom.

BCM Junior League – ORCA Swimming Club

ORCA will appoint a Team Manager to run this league, the Team Manager will select his team from club members and he will invite swimmers to join the league.

If you are not selected – there are two other leagues to be announced soon.

Competition Judge Level 1 Course

If any parent / guardian or swimmer 15 years or over would like to support the club by becoming a Judge (there are the officials at the end of the pool at Galas) – ORCA are happy to support and pay for the training course.

This may be helpful for Swimmers that are taking GCSE PE – or parents that are interested in supporting the club in being able to start running our own Level 4 Galas

The course is a 1 day on-line course and covers the FINA rules for judging swimmers strokes whilst in competition.

Details of the course can be assessed here – the course is £20 – ORCA is happy to pay the course fees for a small number of people.

Please contact me at chairman@orcaswimming.club if you are interested.
