Competition Judge Level 1 Course

If any parent / guardian or swimmer 15 years or over would like to support the club by becoming a Judge (there are the officials at the end of the pool at Galas) – ORCA are happy to support and pay for the training course.

This may be helpful for Swimmers that are taking GCSE PE – or parents that are interested in supporting the club in being able to start running our own Level 4 Galas

The course is a 1 day on-line course and covers the FINA rules for judging swimmers strokes whilst in competition.

Details of the course can be assessed here – the course is £20 – ORCA is happy to pay the course fees for a small number of people.

Please contact me at chairman@orcaswimming.club if you are interested.

Timekeepers Course

If anybody is interested in helping the club in running galas – Swim England run a Timekeepers Course which is a 1.5 Hour online course.

If you would like to take up the training and help poolside, please contact me at chairman@orcaswimming.club and we will gladly fund the course and help you book the training.

Alternatively you can book the training driectly Here

COVID Update

One of our swimmers has reported a positive COVID result, from Group 2.

Please could we request all swimmers to take a Lateral Flow Test before training for the next week and only come to training if feeling well and have a negative result.

Swim England North West – Youth Advisory Panel

Swim England North West were promoting, and are currently advertising for young people aged 15-20 years, to apply for a place on our newly launched SENW Youth Advisory Panel. this may be of interest to any swimmers that are currently taking GCSE Sport or want to move into swim teaching.

Applications are being sought from North West Region club members aged between 15 and 20 years who would like to be part of a small team of like-minded individuals who will become a youth voice for the Region.  Applicants should be actively involved in a club either as a competitor (any discipline), or as a club volunteer/official or teacher/coach.

The SENW Youth Advisory Panel will be overseen by SENW staff and a SENW Management Board Representative and will be responsible for delivering projects that promote and prioritise youth engagement within aquatics.

If you would like to see more detail or apply – please see the data on the following page.

Membership Renewal – Tip

If you are looking for your ASA Membership Number whilst completing your Application Form, you can normally find it using the Swim England webiste for Individual Best Times (also useful place to look for swimmer gala PBs, Past performance and tracking progress)

If you go to the following web page, enter the Family Name and “Go Looking” (You may get an “I am not a Robot” box to tick, scroll down the list of names and you will see the Club they are associated with as ORCA (Royton) – (some may list as Oldham Aquatics SC if they were ATS members before joining ORCA) – amd their ASA membership Number is on the left.

Whilst you are there – If you then click on the membership number you will see where their Individual Gala results are listed – Any of the items shown are in Blue they are clickable and you can dig into Split Times on >50M races, Past results and all sorts of data from past galas. (of course that is when you have done some galas !)

You can also go looking at everyone elses !
